KATZIES
1. HOW IT ALL BEGAN
MY CLIENT HAD SEEN A PAINTING THAT I DID ENTI- TLED CATNAP. HE WANTED A SIMILAR CONCEPT TO COM-MEMORATE HIS CATS.
"I WOULD LIKE TO SEND YOU MORE PICTURES OF MY CATS BUT DIGITAL CAMERAS WERE NOT A THING WHEN THE CATS LIVED."
2. BRINGING IT CLOSER TO HOME
IMAGES OF SIMILAR BREEDS WERE SENT, THE SKETCH WAS REDRAWN & ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE.
3. COLORFUL CATS
SINCE MOST OF THE CATS HAD DARK, BLACK COATS, A COLOR STUDY WAS DONE TO INTRODUCE SOME COLOR TO WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN MOSTLY A BLACK AND WHITE PAINTING.
4. KATZIES
THIS WAS INSPIRED FROM ANOTHER PAINTING OF MINE, CATNAP, WHERE BOXES WITH SIDE OPENINGS SERVED AS A PLAYGROUND AND SLEEPING QUARTERS FOR THE CATS. EACH POSE TELLS A STORY, DESCRIBING WHAT A CAT'S DAY WAS LIKE FROM SLEEPING, WAKING UP, WALKING ABOUT AND FINALLY, LAZING ONCE AGAIN ON THE FLOOR, BEING AS KATZY AS A CAT CAN BE.
KATZIES
MY CLIENT DIDN'T HAVE ANY PICTURES TO BEGIN WITH AND WE MADE THE BEST OUT OF WHAT WE HAD. WE WORKED THROUGH THE PROCESS TO BRING HIS CATS AS CLOSE TO HIS RECOLLECTION AND NOW, ALL KATZIES ARE ONCE AGAIN WITH HIM, THIS TIME, ALL TOGETHER, IN A ONE OF A KIND PAINTING.
